New mentor network launched to leverage the investment potential of Nordic life science startups
Denmark and the Nordic countries have historically been leading countries to develop new life science companies. The Nordic Mentor Network for Entrepreneurship (NOME) is a new mentor network that aims to give Nordic startup projects and ideas the best conditions to unfold their life science businesses internationally and turn in to successful companies.
The mentor network is based on a Novo Nordisk Foundation initiative who have granted Accelerace 20 million DKK to build and develop the international network. The network consists of highly-skilled mentors that will use their expertise and knowledge to help startup companies from Denmark and the other Nordic countries with their network and business development.
“With the establishment of the Nordic Mentor Network for Entrepreneurship (NOME) the Novo Nordisk Foundation wants to contribute to the commercialization of promising new innovations within life science research to develop new, groundbreaking growth companies in the region. The initiative is built on the newest and best practice gained by MIT in Boston and will give the start-up companies the best possible guidance to achieve success,” says Birgitte Nauntofte, CEO, the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
Nordic Biotech and Medtech start-ups get international network
As part of the mentoring initiative start-ups and early-stage projects in the life sciences will be assigned mentors to help them quickly develop their business and test if their project has international potential. On top of that, the startups will travel to the United States and go through an ambitious process where they’ll meet leading experts in their field such as investors, medical doctors, scientists, business managers, and other key influencers in the life science industry.
“Our ambition with providing start-ups with an international network is to help them develop a precise plan for how they can have utilized their potential. They’ll get a strong network of experts who can help the project in finding investors and partners,” says Peter Torstensen, CEO of Accelerace.
The NOME initiative is launched by the Novo Nordisk Foundation and Accelerace the 29th of March.
